The Mary J. Fletcher Non-Traditional Student Scholarship

Mary J. Fletcher worked at B&W cafeteria for 18 years. After, giving birth to her 4th child (and having 2 grandchildren), she went to LPN school at Parkview hospital in Nashville. She worked 7am to 7pm, 7 days on and 7 days off, for many years, until she returned to school at Tennessee State University, to become a RN. She graduated in August 1989, at the age of 56! She continued to work at Parkview, which is now Centennial Medical Center, until her retirement. Shortly after this she worked a few additional years at Alive Hospice. This year on March 27, 2023 she will be 90yrs old.
