Wilbur Suesberry, Jr.

Wilbur Suesberry, Jr. (1938-2024) was a proud graduate of Tennessee State university.  He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.  Wilbur was a football scholarship recipient and an immensely proud member of the TSU Tigers football team (1955-1958).  As quarterback, he helped lead the Tigers to an undefeated season which culminated in winning the 1956 Black College National Football Championship.  Wilbur was inducted into the TSU Hall of Fame in 1992.  During his lifetime, he remained an avid supporter of TSU Athletics, especially the Tigers football team.

In 1965, Wilbur earned his Medical Degree from Meharry Medical College.  After serving in the Unted States Navy, he practiced as an otolaryngologist (ear, nose, and throat specialist) in California for 48 years with a focus on serving minority communities.

The Suesberry Family is pleased to establish the Wilbur Suesberry, M.D. fund in his honor.  Thank you for your generosity in supporting the education of Tennessee State University athletes.
